Two Independent Trustees - Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine
Two Independent Trustees are required to join the Board of Trustees to complement the knowledge and skills of current Trustees, most being physicists, engineers and technologists working in healthcare.
Experience in human resources and/or charity law is particularly welcome but not essential.
The positions are unremunerated but expenses will be paid. The Board of Trustees normally meet twice a year, once in York and once in London. There will also be the opportunity for involvement in one or more of the sub-committees of the Board of Trustees, each of which meets three times a year.
The successful applicants will require:
- An understanding and acceptance of legal duties and responsibilities of trusteeship;
- Strategic vision and supportive of developing IPEM and its objectives;
- Good independent judgement and creative thinking
- Willingness to speak their mind but be a team player
- Commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life.
The Institute has over 3,800 members who work to improve healthcare in hospitals, other healthcare organisations and related academic and commercial areas. IPEM is a registered, incorporated charity promoting the advancement of physics and engineering applied to medicine and biology and advancing public education in the field. It communicates specialist knowledge through scientific publishing activities and scientific meetings. Senior experience in either of these fields would also be welcome but not essential. IPEM develops and accredits medical physicists, clinical engineers and clinical technologists through its membership register and awards professional qualifications under licence from both the Science Council and the Engineering Council. IPEM also plays a significant role in international medical engineering and physics.
