The Royal British Legion was founded in 1925 to support ex-service men and women and its mission is to enable individuals who are disadvantaged by a disability, health condition or social welfare need, to achieve independence and success. Operating mainly across Kent and Sussex, it’s a diverse organisation comprising of commercial activities which include Care and Welfare, Manufacturing and Welfare to Work Programmes.
Led by the Chief Executive and supported by a committed and enthusiastic operational and corporate Executive Team and Board of Trustees, RBLI have ambitious plans to reach out and support the hardest to help beneficiaries and make a real difference to improving their lives. They have a 2016 Vision and Strategy Plan in place to make their plans a reality and in order to help them achieve their ambitions they seek two high performing and high calibre individuals to join the Board of Trustees and strengthen their financial and general commercial activities, for the following positions:
Financial Trustee
With a background at Finance Director level in either a commercial or third sector environment you will support the Board of Trustees to:
- Secure that the organisation functions within the legal, compliance and financial requirements of a charitable organisation
- Ensure the financial stability of RBLI
- Protect, manage and ensure the proper investment of RBLI funds
- Regularly review the risks to which the organisation is subject
Generalist Trustee
Equipped with a high level of experience in a senior role, you will support the Board of Trustees by contributing your specific personal skills, experience and influence to ensure RBLI is well run, efficient and on target to achieve their 2016 Vision and Strategy Plans.
In either instance you will need to be able to commit to at least six days per annum with meetings normally held at the Aylesford Head Office.
