Trustee and Treasurer - South London Community Music
SLCM is a small ‘umbrella’ charity and its Trustees are normally drawn from the membership. The Ensembles are managed by their Committees - the SLCM is there to encourage and develop our objectives across all the groups. The Ensembles are based on wind instruments, but this is coincidence. We are keen to encourage more music groups of any kind to join SLCM. Commitment to the community is at the heart of all the SLCM Ensembles: no auditions, low subscriptions, high standards and benefiting others –these criteria combine to inspire the spirit and manifestation of SLCM to which we aspire.
We have an opportunity for someone with management accounting skills and a commitment to community music to join our Trustees. The Treasurer’s role is predominantly a co-ordinating one for the financial management, as each ensemble has its own treasurer. As a Trustee you would be fully involved with the development and organisation of the charity. Once you have ‘learnt the ropes’ the role is likely to take a few hours a month at times to suit you, plus coming to the quarterly Trustees’ meetings, held on a mid-week evening. The role is unpaid but its rewards can be decidedly life-enhancing.
