Hinton lectures

Following the death of Nicholas Hinton, NCVO decided to establish an annual lecture to mark his memory and to take forward the many issues that he championed during his life.

Nicholas Hinton had a long history of working in the voluntary sector, both generally and with individual voluntary organisations, notably Save the Children Fund and NACRO.

He was also a visionary Director of NCVO. His impact on the sector was profound and lasting and he was widely respected in both the UK and internationally.

The annual Nicholas Hinton lecture is the sector's way of ensuring that his critical contribution is remembered.

24 October 'Does a strong and independent third sector mean a strong and healthy civil society?' by Stuart Etherington.

Stuart Etherington speaking at an open lecture Thursday evening to mark the 10th anniversary of the  Centre for Voluntary Sector Research (CVSR) at Sheffield Hallam University. Since opening in 1998 the Centre has made an important contribution to our understanding of the sector and the environment in which it operates.

Throughout its ten years, the Centre has grown to 13 members spread across four faculties and departments, and has undertaken a vast range of research projects for external clients.
