Important Changes to Payroll Legislation

From April all voluntary organisations will have to adjust how you manage your payroll due to the introduction of Real Time Information (RTI). The introduction of RTI will mean that information has to be submitted electronically to HMRC every time payroll is run rather than just at year-end. RTI will involve collating and sending 118 different pieces of information for submission to HMRC every time the payroll is run. This means that you need to establish new systems to collect the required data. Organisations should build these procedures into the recruitment process so that this information is obtained from new joiners when they start, as well as retrospectively for existing employees.

To help you alleviate the increasing workload that RTI will cause, our Preferred Suppliers can offer you support:

  • Outsource your payroll to Bond Payroll to get a fast, reliable and secure payroll processing service. 15% discount for NCVO members.
  • Implement new payroll software – new Sage 50 Payroll RTI Edition has been designed to ensure the easiest transition to RTI possible.
  • Attend CentrePoint Software training on Sage Payroll RTI to get an understanding of RTI legislation and find out how to process RTI using Sage 50 Payroll. Discounts for NCVO members.

For further help and information on RTI, please see www.hmrc.gov.uk/rti/employerfaqs.htm.

Microsoft charity pricing eligibility

We’ve worked with the Cabinet Office to ensure that more charities are able to access the substantial discounts Microsoft offer through Charity (Academic) pricing.

Charity (Academic) pricing is now offered to all registered charities who are NCVO members, with a small number of exclusions for certain groups who are covered by other agreements. Charities no longer have to receive 10% of their income from public donation.

Any NCVO member that isn’t eligible to purchase Academic pricing under the new agreement will be able to continue to do so until the current NCVO Microsoft Select Agreement expires on 30 April 2013.

View Charity (Academic) pricing on the Microsoft Volume Licensing website by selecting United Kingdom.

New office supplies service

“Essential Resources’  is great because it enables me, as the MD of a small charity, to keep up to date and know what I need to keep abreast of.”  Tim Potter, Managing Director, The Fragile X Society (Mar 2012)

“The one thing that I most like about Essential Resources is the ‘Spotlight on’ sections – even though they may not be about my area of expertise, reading about the issues and experiences of others can sometimes inspire to think in a different way about the challenges my team face.” Antony Rathbone, Macmillan Cancer Support (Mar 2012)

“What a great way to save valuable time and money by using NCVO suppliers. You get good prices with reputable suppliers without searching the market or talking to cold callers.”
John Naylor, Operations Director, Saltbox (Sept 2010).

"NCVO save me a lot of hard work by sourcing, and recommending, reliable organisations that have a wealth of experience of working with charities. The NCVO recommended suppliers offer great discounts, real support and have helped us become more effective."
Pat Fitzsimons, CEO, Community Network, the only telephone conference charity in the UK (Feb 2010).
