What is the Almanac?
The Almanac is an annual publication, which started in 1996. While the latest figures on the economy of the voluntary sector and civil society are found in the UK Civil Society Almanac 2010, details of previous editions are below.

The 2010 version is available to NCVO members in the Member's area. If you are not a amember you can buy the print version but it is currently out of stock (Update on January 2011) Not a member? Join today.

The UK Civil Society Almanac 2009 
Published February 2009
This year the Almanac includes information on civil society organisations alongside a detailed exploration of the state of the voluntary sector economy, building on the first picture of Civil Society shown in the 2009 Almanac.The publication reveals vital information about government funding of voluntary organisations, how charities spend their money, workforce and volunteering in the sector and much more, presented in an easy-to-use full-colour publication.

The UK Civil Society Almanac 2008
Published: February 2008
The 2008 Almanac was renamed to reflect a widened scope. As well as looking at the core voluntary and community sector, this Almanac included figures on co-operatives, housing associations, universities, independent schools and other organisations to produce for the first time a comprehensive picture of Civil Society in the UK.

The UK Voluntary Sector Almanac 2007
Published: June 2007
The 2007 Almanac brings together evidence on the size and scope of the sector. It includes details on: different types and sources of income; how money is spent; the sector's workforce and volunteers; and who gives to charity.
