Strategy and impact
Frequently asked questions
Are you doing the right things?
The world is always changing around you, and the issues you address are changing too. A robust and meaningful strategy will help you stay on top of these changes and ensure your organisation’s mission is both inspiring and achievable.
Are you making a difference?
You probably know how hard people are working, and you may have a fair idea about what level of service of you are delivering. But is all this work actually having an effect? And can you produce evidence of this, if asked? Real impact reporting is the key to knowing – and showing – what you’re doing well and what you need to improve.
How we can help you
NCVO’s Strategy and Impact Team can help your organisation make sure it’s doing the right thing, and help it make more of a difference, by providing:
- readable booklets and guides about the latest practice: take a look at our relevant publications
- direct support and advice to review your organisation, or to help it improve in a particular area.
We can support you on strategy, planning, change management, impact reporting, user involvement, benchmarking, quality and strategic marketing.
Ask about direct support
To explore whether we can help your organisation solve a particular problem or improve in a particular area, contact Jake Eliot, tel: 020 7520 2508, email: jake.eliot@ncvo-vol.org.uk, outlining what you’d like help with, and we’ll get back to you.

You can also download a guide to the resources produced by all six ChangeUp Hubs (PDF 5.5MB).
Background
The importance of these topics for voluntary and community organisations was identified in the research report ‘Improving Our Performance’, which fed into the ChangeUp programme and the establishment of the Performance Hub, which operated from 2005 to March 2008.
