Prove your worth to Whitehall

26th August 2010

New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) is encouraging charities to assess themselves against the nine questions the Treasury is asking government departments in preparation for this month’s spending review.

NPC argues that if charities can successfully answer the questions, it can help them build a stronger case for survival to their existing funders who may also be looking to make cuts.

The questions include whether a product or service:

  • provides substantial economic value
  • is essential for meeting government priorities.

Communicating your full value

Tailoring the way you explain your work to reflect the various perspectives of your different audiences is one of the key elements of NCVO’s full value approach. This concept encourages organisations to explore their broader societal worth and to cherry pick appropriate aspects of their full value to promote to different stakeholders.
