Justin Davis Smith announced as NCVO executive director for volunteering

15th November 2012

Volunteering England chief executive, Justin Davis Smith, will lead NCVO’s new volunteering directorate under the organisations’ merger proposals, NCVO announced today.

As executive director for volunteering and development, Dr Davis Smith will be NCVO’s senior ambassador for volunteering.

Dr Davis Smith said:

"I am delighted to take on this key role. With my colleagues I will continue to advocate strengthening the contribution volunteers already make in voluntary, public and private sector organisations, and ensure the crucial roles volunteers play in our communities are recognised and supported."

Sir Stuart Etherington, chief executive of NCVO, said:

"I am very pleased that Justin will be joining us. His expertise will be invaluable as we look to put volunteering at the heart of all our work. This merger will also create many opportunities to strengthen our work on behalf of the sector. Justin is an outstanding champion for volunteering and will help us make the most of these opportunities."

NCVO and Volunteering England anticipate merging early in the new year, subject to normal legal and financial checks.
