Youth charity shines at parliamentary reception

15th December 2010
SE1 United

NCVO members SE1 United gave an inspiring presentation at our Christmas Parliamentary Reception on 14 December.

The charity sent Natalie Bell, Jacob Whittingham and Timi Raji along to the event to tell guests about the charity's work with young people in the Waterloo area of London.  They talked about SE1 United's origins, how they are funded and some of their current projects.  Timi spoke about his recent trip to Kosovo and how the group is supporting him to follow his dream of becoming a youth worker.

SE1 United is a youth forum based in Waterloo, set up in 2003 for young people aged 10-21 years old.  It offers a range of services, including a drop-in centre, crime and safety sessions, homework club, employment and training advice and sports, music, arts and performance projects.

The reception also saw speeches from NCVO's new chair Martyn Lewis, Minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd and chair of Compact Voice, Simon Blake.  The event marked the publication of the renewed Compact, the agreement which governs relations between public bodies and civil society organisations in England.
