Cumbria Students’ Union helps us reach membership milestone

19th August 2010
NCVO 8,000th member celebration

Join us in celebrating a key membership milestone as we welcome the University of Cumbria Students' Union (UCSU) as our 8,000th member.

UCSU's membership highlights the increasing role that student unions play within the wider voluntary sector.  The Union provides a range of services to support its 14,000 members, including commercial facilities and a Volunteering and Independent Advice Service.

To mark the occasion, UCSU representatives attended a special reception at our London office (above left).

UCSU Representation Sabbatical Martin Dodd said:

"As a member organisation ourselves, becoming the 8,000th member of NCVO is a fantastic opportunity.  NCVO has been supporting voluntary organisations – including many student unions – across the country for decades, and it is a privilege to see UCSU now among them.  The advice, support, research and training NCVO offers will undoubtedly support our further development in the years ahead."

Sir Stuart Etherington, Chief Executive of NCVO, said:

"We are delighted to welcome UCSU into the NCVO fold.  Student unions play an increasingly integral role in the wider voluntary sector, and we look forward to working with them to support the civil society leaders of the future."

Last month, we announced a new joint deal with the National Union of Students (NUS), which offers membership to all student unions. To find out more about how you and your union could benefit from NCVO membership, please take a quick look at these key member benefits.
