New free resource for civil society start ups
A free online reference tool launched today offers a helping hand for anyone looking to set up a charity, social enterprise or co-operative.
Get Legal (www.getlegal.org.uk) provides clear guidance and information about legal structures for individuals, organisations and advisors.
The resource has been created by NCVO and leading law firm Bates, Wells and Braithwaite (BWB).
The website demystifies legal and governance terms and helps users to decide what structure will work best for them and find the form that fits their mission and vision.
The resources section of the site also contains case studies and information on where to go for further advice and support.
Get Legal’s bespoke decision tool helps people to 'find the form that fits', by asking a series of simple questions about their organisation and providing links to help and resources along the way.
Richard Williams, Director of Capacity Building and Business Development at NCVO, said:
"This important and exciting resource will support civil society organisations to make informed choices and deliver their goals. Get Legal is a real breakthrough in making it easier to set up and run charities, social enterprises and voluntary organisations."
Abbie Rumbold, partner at BWB, said:
"This is a ground-breaking initiative which will provide much needed clarity on legal structures. We hope that a wide range of organisations and advisors will benefit from being able to find the answers to their questions quickly and easily."
Get Legal is endorsed by the Charity Commission and CIC Regulator.
It has been developed in partnership with CSC, Acevo, Cooperatives UK and the Leadership and Governance National Support Services.
