Could Not for Profit organisations reclaim more Gift Aid?

Provisional figures from H.M.R.C. suggest that the amount of Gift Aid reclaimed by UK charities rose substantially in 2008/2009 compared to the previous year. However, could there be scope to increase this amount if the business systems of some voluntary organisations were set up more effectively?

Also are Not-for-Profit organisations aware that from April 2010 H.M.R.C will only accept retrospective Gift Aid claims for the last four rather than the current six tax years.
