The Networked Nonprofit
I went to a fab talk this morning by Beth Kanter, organised by The Guardian's new Voluntary Sector Network.
Beth is a beacon in the social media/ voluntary sector world and co-author of "The Networked Nonprofit".
The book is an eloquent look at how "networked" organisations can be more effective, efficient, relevant, agile, inclusive, transparent and engaged by making use of social media tools and their concepts of connectedness.
I'm not going to bother reviewing the book - there are reviews listed at www.bethkanter.org/networked-np-reviews/ - but I would encourage everyone to try and get hold of copy; read it, ask their managers to read it and try and get their trustees to read it. You can buy your own copy of The Networked Nonprofit on Amazon (and other online retailers).
The slides, audio etc from the talk will be up on The Guardian website very soon. You can already see a transcript of the tweets from the event.
