NCVO Funding Commission Public Sector Funding

Government funding of charities has increased year on year, from £8.4 billion in 2000/01 to £12.8 billion in 2007/08. As a proportion of all income to the sector it now accounts for just over one third (36%).  Some 40,000 charities have a financial relationship with the public sector, but it is still the case that most charities (75%) have no direct financial relationship with the state.
