This year the annual Third Sector Foresight conference will be held jointly with the Carnegie UK Trust as part of their Inquiry into the future of civil society  in the UK and Ireland.

Why come to the conference?

The purpose of this event is to discuss possible futures for civil society and to identify what actions we can take to diminish possible future threats and take advantage of emerging opportunities. The content of the event will be framed by the findings of the Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society.

Speakers will include:

  • Geoff Mulgan, Chair of the Inquiry and Director of the Young Foundation
  • Stuart Etherington, Chief Executive of NCVO
  • Will Hutton, Chief executive of The Work Foundation
  • Maeve Sherlock, previously of the Refugee Council and HM Treasury
  • John Gaventa, Professor at the Institute of Development Studies (University of Sussex) and Oxfam Trustee and,
  • Kierra Box, Founder of Hands Up For...
  • Phillip Hope MP, Minister for the Third Sector, will now speak at the Drinks Reception on 16 July 2007

Much of the day will also be dedicated to discussions about how driving forces such as technological, political and environmental change may shape the future nature and role of civil society.  Not only will you have the opportunity to input into the work of the Inquiry, but you will also take away strategic insights about future challenges and opportunities to strengthen your work.

Delegates will be from diverse backgrounds and sectors, so we anticipate the discussion to be rich, wide-ranging and extremely interesting. Please note that delegates will not be attending as representatives of particular organisations, but as individuals who have valuable insights to share, drawing on professional and life experiences.

There will also be a drinks reception on the evening of the 16 July, which will provide an excellent opportunity to network with other delegates.

Fees: Delegate places are £170 for a full-day conference. Bursaries are available.

Bursaries: To apply for a bursary please return the application form to Asma Jhina. Deadline 8 June 2007.
