NCVO is 90
In NCVO's 90th year, our flagship Annual Conference will examine how uncertain economic times and a potential change in government presents us with many challenges, but also with opportunities.
Join us to explore the voluntary and community sector’s role within civil society and to identify those issues which will matter most to the people and communities we work with in the future.
High profile keynote speakers
Dr Vincent Cable MP - New keynote speaker – “the holy grail of economic comment”
We’re delighted to announce Dr Vincent Cable MP, Deputy Leader and Shadow Chancellor for the Liberal Democrats, as the morning keynote speaker at our flagship NCVO Annual Conference, 2009.
Since standing in as Acting leader following the departure of Sir Menzies Campbell, the cult of Cable has grown exponentially. Known for his acidic turn of phrase, he famously compared the Prime Minister to Mr Bean for "creating chaos out of order, rather than order out of chaos."
Recognised for his insightful analysis of the state of the economy, Dr Cable is the politician most turned to for his analysis of the changing economic climate. Described by Tory Alan Duncan as "the holy grail of economic comment" he will tell us what he believes the recession means for the voluntary and community sector and help us to focus on the challenging times we face ahead in 2009 and beyond.
Dr Cable has recently been awarded both Opposition Politician of the Year and Parliamentarian of the Year.
Visit Vince Cable's website.

Dr Benjamin Barber
World renowned, straight-talking political theorist and author Dr Benjamin Barber, who is a former advisor to Bill Clinton, will challenge us to focus on the testing times we face ahead in 2009 and beyond.
Visit Benjamin Barber's website.
Other speakers will include:
- Stuart Etherington, Chief Executive, NCVO
- Baroness Jill Pitkeathley, Chair, Office of the Third Sector Advisory Body
