IJAD Dance Company is an interdisciplinary dance and arts company. The work is based on different dance genres, visual media, design, and film.

IJAD examines social and political issues through movement and aims to create work relevant to the context and time we are living in. The company also explores current discoveries in dance technique and the use of technology in order to break the boundaries of conventional movement.

Wirksworth Festival is now clearly established as a leading rural art festival. An ambitious contemporary visual art programme coupled with a focused marketing strategy has seen a significant increase in the quality, reach and impact of the Festival. In 2010 and 2011 we achieved record audiences, with over 10,000 people taking part and over 170 artists exhibiting in our opening weekend.

The Academy has recently embarked on an exciting new phase of its evolution, including the appointment of Joshua Bell in May 2011 as the Academy’s new Music Director.  In addition, the orchestra has long-established artistic partnerships with some of the world’s leading musicians, including Sir Neville Marriner, the Academy’s Life President, and Principal Guest Conductor, Murray Perahia.

The Academy is seeking to appoint in early 2012 a number of new Trustees to its Board, which has responsibility for the overall leadership and governance of the organisation.
