First aid
The Health and Safety Executive has produced a short factsheet, First aid at work: Your questions answered (PDF) which provides a summary of the first aid facilities to provide in your organisation.
For more detailed guidance on complying with your first aid duties, see: First aid at work: The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.
An area of obvious concern to any employer or worker, first aid is regulated by the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and by the Code of Practice and Guidance, First-Aid at Work 1997, published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The Code of Practice stresses the employer's duty to make an assessment of first-aid needs appropriate to the circumstances of each workplace and explains how first-aid provision should be related to the level or risk. The Code should be consulted for detailed recommendations (PDF).
