It was established in 1975.

The Confederation of Indian Organisations (UK) mission is to support the development of South Asian organisations and strengthen their infrastructure through its skill and customer oriented specialist team.

Membership criteria:
Full membership is open to community and voluntary organisations that are predominantly run for and by members of the Indian community and whose aims and objectives are to provide benefit to the South Asian community.
Associate membership is open to all non-Indian community and voluntary organisations that are predominantly run for and by members of South Asian communities and whose aims and objectives are to provide benefit to the South Asian Community.
Cost is £10 per annum per organisation, subject to providing appropriate documents.
