The Consortium's vision is of a strong, visible and sustainable sector of LGBT voluntary and community organisations that can:

  • Offer diverse opportunities for community participation and involvement

The Consortium seeks to ensure that the process as well as the outcomes of its work uphold these values, and to counter frustrations, isolation and barriers to our communities' development with optimism, innovation and flair.

Membership criteria:

Full membership is free and for formally constituted organisations and groups, which are controlled by LGBT people. Full member groups must exist to promote the welfare of LGBT people. All full membership organisations are entitled to vote at general meetings, and representatives can stand for election to the Board.

Associate membership is also free and for a broader range of groups including those that:

· have a significant proportion of LGBT people among their client group, staff (if any) and governing body

· are part of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities but not formally constituted

· are a formal grouping of LGBT people within another (non-LGBT) organisation.
