Resources, tools and support for trustees

Many guides and example documents exist to help trustees understand their role and develop good governance practice.

Useful websites include:

• www.ncvo-vol.org.uk has a wide range of online factsheets and best practice guidance
• www.icsa.org.uk has a range of best practice guides
• www.charitycommission.gov.uk has guidance on regulatory requirements for charities and detailed guidance on specific issues (eg paying trustees)
• www.trusteenet.org.uk is a national network of charity trustees
• National Occupational Standards for Trustees and Management Committee Members

• Local support agencies (called Local Infrastructure Organisations) - they often provide face to face support and training for trustees such as councils of voluntary service and charities
