Summary of terms and conditions of NCVO employment

  1. Annual Leave
    Annual leave entitlement for staff who work full time is 25 days.  Part-time
    staff receive a pro-rata entitlement for both annual leave and bank holidays.  In addition NCVO closes over the Christmas period.  There is an increase for long service: after 3 years - 27 days, after 5 years - 30 days.
  2. Hours of Work
    Full time hours of work are 35 per week excluding lunch. NCVO operates a flexible working hours system. Core hours are 10.30am to 3.30pm.
  3. Pensions
    NCVO operates a stakeholder pension.  We double the employee contribution to a maximum of 8.5% as well as a salary sacrifice scheme.
  4. Childcare Allowance
    NCVO makes a contribution of £10 per week towards the cost of childcare for staff who pay for their childcare arrangements.  NCVO also operates a salary sacrifice scheme through the childcare scheme.
  5. Sickness Provision
    During the first year of service staff will be entitled to 6 weeks full pay and 6 weeks half pay. Thereafter it will increase with service to a maximum of 26 weeks full pay and 26 weeks half pay.
  6. Maternity Provision
    NCVO offers a maternity scheme to women with one year's service; up to 52 weeks leave, of which 6 is on full pay, 12 on half pay and SMP at 21 weeks.

  8. Travel Loans
    Interest-free season ticket and cycle loans.  NCVO also operates a salary sacrifice bicycle purchase scheme.
  9. Gym Membership
    NCVO offers a subsidised membership at participating gyms and contributes towards a Health Club.
  10. HSF (Hospital Saturday Fund)
    NCVO operates a contributory Health Plan.
  11. Volunteering
    NCVO provides 5 days' paid volunteering leave.
